Abe is a public health nutrition professional, with over 30 years’ experience in both technical and leadership roles.

Abe has worked at both national and state levels for health agencies in the United States. He has also had advisory and consulting roles in over 30 countries.

Abe’s areas of expertise and experience include: development of policies and strategies related to the prevention and control of vitamin and mineral deficiencies; strengthening maternal and child nutrition programmes through evidence-based interventions and technical and programmatic capacity development; engaging public-private-civic sector partnerships in support of effective food fortification programmes; and advising on the design and implementation of feasible and ongoing nutrition programme monitoring and surveillance systems.

Abe holds a Master of Science degree.
