Eighty-six countries have legislation to fortify at least one milled cereal grain. However, different fortification requirements between countries often create practical difficulties for intercountry trade. Regional harmonization standardizes compliance and procedures, and strengthens the capacity of governments and the private sector to implement sustainable fortification programmes.
By taking part in this webinar, you will:
Understand how regional harmonization helps address regional food fortification needs.
Determine the benefits of regional harmonization on trade, in-country enforcement of fortification standards, and generation of evidence on effectiveness of the interventions.
Learn from regional regulatory bodies on the areas of interventions that are lagging behind and need further attention.
The Second Global Summit on Food Fortification is co-hosted by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the Micronutrient Forum and HarvestPlus. To join us on 29th April, register at GAIN’s website.
